Knurling, marking, diamond smoothing, gear cutting - all tools from Hommel+Keller Präzisionswerkzeuge GmbH are convincing - however different they may be - with flexibility, precision and economy. The Aldingen-based company will be using the EMO international industry platform in Hall 4 at Stand D24 to present its innovative technologies. New developments in knurling and diamond smoothing tools, interesting application examples, a lecture on marking technology and a prize draw are just some of the highlights that Hommel+Keller offers visitors to the trade fair.
"At EMO we don't just want to present the latest developments to our customers and visitors, we want to inspire them. In addition to our tools, we will also be showing application examples that illustrate the machining possibilities - such as for our QUICK knurling tools F711 and F711-IK, which we have optimised for series production. Those interested in our marking technology will also get their money's worth," promises Adrian Sunderer, Product Manager at Hommel+Keller Präzisionswerkzeuge GmbH.
Knurling tool optimized for large series production
The QUICK F711 knurling tool is the all-rounder tool from Hommel+Keller and its maximum stability and flexibility enables a wide range of applications. The new internal cooling and the new quick clamping system qualify the tool particularly for use in large series machining. The exact alignment of the cooling to the knurled wheels reduces wear on the edges and thus set-up times. In addition, the internal cooling requires less space in the machine than external cooling. The new quick clamping system ensures simple, fast and safe changing of the knurling wheels - thanks to fewer operating steps and fixing of the screw to be loosened so that it cannot fall into the machine.
"In our first application example, we show how flexibly the F711 and F711-IK tools can be used. Not only does it enable all profiles to be used, but by shifting the Y axis, two different profiles can be attached to a workpiece in a single work process," says Adrian Sunderer. The knurled wheels are mounted on both sides for maximum stability.

zeus smoothing tools: Service life doubled
A further highlight is the newly developed recording and optimisation of the diamond tip in the zeus smoothing tools. This means that a tip can be used twice as long as before - with a consistently high surface quality of RZ < 1 µm. How does this work? The diamond tip can now be optimally applied in eight different positions.
Marking can be so fast
Complete documentation is essential for quality assurance. However, many markings such as laser marking are cost-intensive. With the flexible and precise zeus marking tools, marking is integrated directly into the machining process and additional costs for set-up, travel and idle times are eliminated. Anyone wishing to find out more about the innovative marking technology will have the opportunity to visit the stand at the EMO as well as the VDMA Forum on Thursday, 19 September at 10.10 a.m. Adrian Sunderer will give a lecture entitled "Fast, faster, fastest - marking within a second" on the subject of machine marking within a machining process. Using an application example that will also be on display at the trade fair stand, he will demonstrate the application possibilities of zeus marking tools, highlight the economic advantage of marking integrated into the work process and explain the flexibility offered by the modular system.
"What our marking tools can do is shown in our second application example: socket wrench inserts from tool manufacturer GEDORE. We had to face a special challenge when it came to labelling: GEDORE required an unusual embossing depth of 0.3 mm. In addition, there was the very hard material and the selection of different characters (logo, numbers, small and large font) as well as multi-line lettering," says Peter Hippler, application engineer at Hommel+Keller Präzisionswerkzeuge GmbH. "With our zeus marking tool 432 with spring-back segments, we were able to meet the requirements. The embossing depth is achieved by a steeper flank angle of the writing segments, partly from 90° to 60°. The zeus tool RD2-141 is used for the recess knurling (knurling profile on the workpiece RGE 45°) at the upper end".
